Evelyn
J. Gutting, age 93, resident of McVille, ND, formerly
of Tolna, ND, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the
Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille.
Evelyn
June Tiegen was born June 23, 1916 at Kulm, ND, the
daughter of Eric and Magdalena (Guthmuller) Tiegen.
She was raised and attended school there until her family
moved to Lakota, ND. She was a 1933 graduate of Lakota
High School, and Aaker's Business College in Fargo.
She then worked at the ASCS office in Lakota. Evelyn
married Harold Gutting on September 13, 1940 in Devils
Lake, ND. They lived at Wilton and Munster, ND. In 1946
they returned to the Gutting home farm near Tolna. They
raised their children and farmed together there until
retiring. Evelyn and Harold spent 29 winters in Apache
Junction, AZ. Harold died May 5, 2007. Evelyn was a
member of American Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid at
Tolna. She was also a 4-H Leader and member of the Homemakers
Club and the Birthday Club.
Evelyn
will be greatly missed by her 2 daughters, Jan Forde
of Fort Collins, CO, and Marj (Richard) Jones of Gardner,
ND; 2 sons, Bob (Juanita) Gutting of Devils Lake, ND,
and Dave (Carol) Gutting of Colorado Springs, CO; 7
grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Bob
(Virginia) Tiegen of Hastings, LA; and 2 sisters, LuWanna
(Wally) Barrett of Carefree, AZ, and Donna (Tom) Quackenbush
of San Pedro, CA.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a
brother, Lloyd Tiegen; and a grandson, Ricky Forde.
Evelyn's
Funeral Service will be held at the American Lutheran
Church of Tolna, ND, on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 11:00
a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend David Nichols.
The organist will be Delores Clute and the soloist will
be Darlene Quam. Interment will be in the Tolna Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Dan Forde, Reed Gleason, Jordan
Gleason, Dustin Freed, Aaron Jones, and Adam Jones.
Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, from
5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00
p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday,
from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
