Elmer Nels Pederson, age 98, of McVille, ND passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Nelson County Health System – Care Center in McVille.

Elmer was born in McVille on June 21, 1913 the son of Nels and Anna (Madson) Pederson. He grew up and attended school in McVille. He married Inez Ensrud on July 3, 1936 in McVille. Elmer helped with several public works projects around McVille with the Works Progress Administration. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the European Theatre. He received his honorable discharged on January 15, 1946 . He returned to McVille and worked as a carpenter before spending over 20 years with John Deere as a parts man. Elmer drove school bus for 13 years, delivered meals on wheels for 21 years, until he was 92 years old. He served with the fire department for over 50 years and was a member of the American Legion for 67 years.

Elmer will be missed and remembered by his son Norman (Sandra) Pederson of Pekin ND; his daughter LaVonne Sigdahl of Grand Forks, ND; 7 grandchildren, Melissa, Janel, Coral, Russell, Jeff, Anna and Jay; 11 great grandchildren, Josh, Katie, Chris, Kendra, Brandon, Jacob, Crystal, Elijah, Evan, Jamie and Mason; 2 great great grandchildren, Jaden and Shane; 1 sister, Estelle Brennan of Grand Forks.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 great grandson Brady, 1 brother Iver and 4 sisters, Alice, Emma, Ida and Dorothy.
