Edna M. Brekken, age 90, resident of McVille, ND, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Nelson County Health System Hospital in McVille.

Edna Medora Halverson was born August 18, 1917 at Wildrose, ND, the daughter of Peter and Clara (Lee) Halverson. She was raised and attended school in Wildrose. She moved to McVille as a young girl to help with the fall harvest. It was there that she met William Dalburg. They were married September 21, 1935. They traveled extensively, as William worked for the U.S. Geological Survey. William died in California in July of 1963. Edna returned to McVille. She married Lloyd Brekken of Pekin, ND, on June 12, 1965. Lloyd was an electrician in McVille and Edna helped him with the business operations. Lloyd died August 28, 1993. Edna became a resident of the Nelson County Health System Care Center in August of 2007.

Edna will be greatly missed by her daughter, Barbara Dalburg of Page, ND; her son, Michael Dalburg of Bottineau, ND; 3 grandchildren, Erick Dalburg, Cathy Deveraux, and Randi Woods; and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Dalburg and Lloyd Brekken; and 12 brothers and sisters.

The visitation for Edna will be held at the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille, ND, on Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Edna's Funeral Service will be held at the McVille Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the McVille Cemetery.
