"Honest"
Don Gillett, age 64, resident of Grace City, ND, passed away
Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown,
ND.
Don
was born January 27, 1943 at McVille, ND, the son of Elmer
"Bud" and Bernice (Broste) Gillett. He grew up in the
Hamar, ND area and attended school in Hamar and Warwick, ND.
He lived and worked in that area for much of his early
adulthood. He married Rowena VanDiver in 1976 in California.
They later divorced. He was employed for many
years by the Benson County Housing Authority before retiring
in 1998 due to health problems.
Although
he struggled with alcoholism earlier in his life, at the time
of his passing he had enjoyed over 34 years of sobriety.
A freedom that allowed him to raise his two sons, of which
he devoted his life to and thought the world of.
He
is survived by his two sons, John Gillett of Grace City, ND
and Tom (Pamela) Gillett of New Rockford, ND; a sister, Bonnie
(Myron) Papachek of Hamar, ND; a brother, Roger (Bonnie) Gillett
of Tolna, ND. He is also survived by 2 nieces, 4 nephews,
and many great nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James
Gillett.
A
Memorial Service for Don will be held at the Aaker Funeral
Home Chapel of Lakota, ND, on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at
1:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Jeff Kapelle.
Interment of Don's ashes will follow at the Warwick Cemetery,
Warwick, ND. Honorary Bearers will be James Papachek,
Teresa Schneider, Marketa Koble, Dale Gillett, Kevon Gillett,
Timothy Gillett, and all of Don's friends.
