Clara Slinde, 88, resident of McVille , ND passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Nelson County Health System – Care Center in McVille , ND .

Clara was born March 10, 1921 in Field Township , rural Kloten , ND to Jacob and Lena (Larson) Olson. She grew up and attended country school near Kloten and graduated from McVille High School in 1939. On December 3, 1945 she married Arthur Slinde. Clara worked at Anderson Super Valu in McVille and the McVille Rexall Drug from 1952 -1984. Arthur died on October 21, 1972 . Clara was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Hospice. She was a Sunday school teacher and a vacation bible school teacher. She enjoyed feeding birds, taking care of stray cats and spending time in her garden. Clara loved to entertain guests with her wonderful cooking and baking. Family was very important to Clara.

Clara is survived by 2 step daughters-in-law; 11 step grandchildren; several step great & great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step sons Alden and Gordon and step daughter Ann Broman, 2 brothers Louie & Johnny and 3 sisters Gertrude Grina, Beatrice Bergh & Thelma Berg, 1 niece Mary Louise Olson and special friend Medley Ward.

Funeral services for Clara will be Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the McVille Lutheran Church , McVille , ND . Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Officiating will be Reverend Marli Danielson. Organist will be Verna Lindvall and soloist will be Paul Odden. Casketbearers will be Dennis Grina, Jerold Berg, Norris Olson, Curt Peterson, Dennis Overby and Richard Urvand. Interment will be in Our Saviors Church Cemetery, rural Kloten , ND .
