Burton C. Sateren, age 77, of rural Lakota, ND passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 at home.

Burton was born November 27, 1933 in Williams Township the son of Clarence and Bernice (Iverson) Sateren. He attended Williams Country School and Mapes Consolidated School before graduating from Lakota High School in 1952. On March 28, 1954 he married Grace Walden at Lakota. They made their home in Mapes for a short time before moving to a farm south of town. Burton farmed in Nelson County his entire life and enjoyed farming so much he continued to help out after his retirement. He was a director with the Nelson Griggs Insurance Company, a Center Township officer for many years and board member of the Center Cemetery. He also enjoyed fishing, working on his model T and visiting with family and friends.

Burton will be missed and remembered by his wife Grace of Lakota, ND; his children David (Stephanie) Sateren of Michigan, ND, Diane (Ted) Rohde of Michigan, ND and Aletta (Jeff) Christian of Pengilly, MN; 5 grandchildren Josh (Jenni) Sateren, Jared Rohde, Jessica (Adam) Hoyt, Charlotte (Matt) Opoien and Brycen (Tiffany Sherland) Sateren; 5 great grandchildren Isabelle Sateren, Ryker Hoyt, Emma & Gavin Opoien, and Cara Sateren; sisters Gloria Estvold of Lakota, ND, Bernice Johnson of Grand Forks, ND and Mary Jane (Don) Pflaum of Cavalier, ND; brothers Clifford (Lorene) Sateren of McVille, ND, Roger (Joan) Sateren of Lakota, ND and Lorne Sateren of Lakota, ND.

Burton was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Lorraine and son Galen.

Funeral services for Burton will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Michigan Lutheran Church . Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 3PM to 7PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral home and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Center Cemetery.
