Arvid
R. Swenson, age 86, resident of Aneta , ND , died Tuesday,
July 31, 2007 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center
in McVille , ND .
Arvid
Rudolph Swenson was born April 1, 1921 in Rugh Township of
Nelson County, ND, the son of Herbert and Eleanora (Johnson)
Swenson. He was raised on his parents farm and attended school
in the area. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on October
8, 1942 at Ft. Snelling , MN . He served his country during
World War II, and was honorably discharged on January 7, 1946
at Ft. Lewis , WA with the rank of Technician 4 th Class.
Arvid married Frances Kiefat on December 31, 1947 in Aneta.
They farmed all of their life together in Rugh Township .
Arvid was active in the community, serving on numerous boards
which included the Rugh Township Board, the Nelson County
Farmers Union Board, and the Logan Church Board serving in
various capacities. Throughout his life he enjoyed music.
In his younger years he played the accordion in a band with
his brothers. In his later years he continued with other bands,
one of which was The Country Classics. Frances died September
3, 2001 . Arvid continued living in Aneta until 2006, when
he became a resident of the Care Center in McVille.
Arvid
will be greatly missed by his 4 children, Arlis Thielke of
Monticello, MN, Marlene (Tim) Seaworth of Bismarck, ND, Wayne
(Anna) Swenson of Troy, MO, and Loren Swenson of Aneta, ND;
3 granddaughters, Natalie, Stacey, and Vedra; 7 great-grandchildren;
a brother, Maynard (Mary) Swenson of Vadnais Heights, MN;
and a sister-in-law, Marie Swenson of Brooklyn Center, MN.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Floyd; and
his wife, Frances.
Arvid's
Funeral Service will be held at the Sundahl Lutheran Church
of Aneta, ND, on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating
will be the Reverend Kenneth Iverson. The organist will be
Judy Rusten and the soloist will be Allen Rusten. Interment
will be in the Logan Cemetery , rural Aneta. Casketbearers
will be Greg Kueber, Art Matson, Sidney Sotvik, Deloy Kiefat,
Gene Gehrke, and Jack Kueber. Visitation will be held at the
Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille, ND, on Thursday,
August 02, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer
Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church
on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
