Arnot Klefstad, age 92, resident of McVille , North Dakota passed away Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Nelson County Health System - Hospital in McVille , ND .

Arnot was born December 1, 1914 on the family farm near Pekin , ND the son of Andrew and Emma (Fretheim) Klefstad. He grew up and was educated in the Pekin area, graduating from Pekin High School in 1931. He attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks , ND before returning to the family farm. He married Mercedes Messner on February 19, 1942 at Crookston , MN . After their marriage they lived and farmed at rural Pekin , ND until moving into McVille , ND in 1993. Mercedes passed away March 11, 1997 . Arnot was the Sheyenne church organist for many years and sang with the church choir. He was treasurer for the church and served on the cemetery board for many years. Arnot had a passion for farming which stayed with him throughout his life; he enjoyed reading and loved spending time with his family.

Arnot will be deeply missed and remembered by his 5 daughters; Betty Ann Bina of McVille , ND , Judy (John) Bata of Centennial, CO, Linda (Craig) Halvorson of Langdon, ND, Sheila (Tim) Halvorson of Pekin, ND and Marsha (David) Hendrickson of Colfax, ND. 4 sons; Alan (Gayle) of Tolna, ND, Lanny (Tammy) of Pekin, ND, Stuart (special friend Shirley Erickson) of Minot, ND and Bruce of Pekin, ND and Sherry Klefstad of McVille, ND. 13 granddaughters; Elizabeth, Lesley, Quinn, Elise, Nicole, Heather, Connie, Carri, Laura, Mary, Sarah, Jessica and Andrea. 10 grandsons; Darrel, Ed, Chris, Lucas, Matt, Andrew, Justin, Philip, Jonathan and Shawn. 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Arnot was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mercedes, brother James, son-in-law Duane Bina and daughter-in-law Cecilia Klefstad.

Funeral services for Arnot will be Monday, November 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Sheyenne Lutheran Church , rural Pekin , ND . Visitation will be Sunday, November 11, 2007 from 3 PM to 5 PM in the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille followed by a prayer service at 7 PM in the Sheyenne Lutheran Church , rural Pekin , ND . Visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to services in the church.  Officiating will be Reverend David Nichols.   Casketbearers will be Arnot's grandsons.  Honorary Casketbearers will be Arnot's granddaughters.  Interment will be in the Sheyenne Church Cemetery . Arrangements with the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home in McVille.
