Alexander
M. Curry, age 93, resident of Sharon, ND, died Friday,
August 7, 2009 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in
Aneta, ND.
Alexander
McKay Curry was born September 5, 1915 on his parents
farm near Sharon, ND, the son of James and Margaret
(Maver) Curry. He grew up on the family farm, attending
and graduating from Sharon High School in 1936. Alex
took over the family farm, and that was his occupation,
until his retirement. During that time, Alex helped
his sister Dorothy raise her daughter Heather, as they
too lived on the family farm. Prior to, and after retirement,
Alex spent his winters in California and Arizona with
relatives. He also made one trip overseas to look up
and visit relatives in England and Scotland. Alex was
a member of the Sharon Senior Citizens, and often went
with on scheduled trips or outings with the group. Throughout
his life, especially following his retirement, one of
Alex's main enjoyments was card-playing with friends.
His other love was fishing, and he spent as many days
as possible out in the boat, or on shore, fishing with
his good friends Vernon Fosse and Chester Ostenson,
until his health and their deaths made it no longer
possible. After his open heart surgery in 1989, Alex's
greatest treasure in life became his dog, Silky, proving
without a doubt, that dog is mans best friend.
Alex
is survived by his older sister Dorothy Heath of Sharon,
ND; sister-in-law Helen Fosse of Sharon, ND; 6 nieces,
Margaret Hilborn of Oroville, CA, Heather (Charles)
George of Scottsdale, AZ, Cathy (Ron) Dyck of Sacramento,
CA, Margaret Ross of Strathroy, Ontario, Jaima Curry
of Aneta, ND, and Dotty Curry of Fargo, ND; and 8 great-nieces
and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister
and brother-in-law Ray and Mayme Gannet; brother and
sister-in-law Charles and Mickey Curry; brother Robert
Curry; niece Roberta Curry; and nephew-in-law Richard
