Janet LaRay VenHuizen, age 60, resident of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Cooperstown, ND passed away Monday, December 1, 2003 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND.

Janet was born July 19, 1943 in Northwood, ND the daughter of Henry and Elinor Vangen. At a young age, Janet lived with her grandparents, Christ and Mathilda Stormoe in Hatton, ND where she began her education. Janet moved to Cooperstown, ND at the age of 9 where she continued her education and later attended the Jamestown College for a period of time. On July 19, 1961, she married Kent VenHuizen in California while he was stationed in the Marines. In 1964, the couple moved to Cooperstown, ND and stayed there until 1994 when she moved to Bismarck, ND. Janet loved to read, enjoyed watching crime shows on the television, driving through the country and talking on the phone to family and friends.

Janet will be deeply missed and remembered by her mother Elinor of Elk River, MN, two sons; Kevin (Sally Jo) of Cooperstown, ND and Kelly (Pamela) of Cooperstown, ND, one daughter; Julie VenHuizen of Mandan, ND. Three grandchildren; Brady, Dana and Hailey. Six sisters; (Marsha, Pamela, Sherry, Vicki, Martha and Rachel.), one brother; (Jim), and many nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her father Henry, stepmother Harriet Vangen and stepfather Alfred Herberg.

Memorial Service was held Thursday, December 4, 2003 at 1:00 PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown, ND.
