Verna D. (Wigen) Azevedo, age 91, resident of Attleboro, MA, formerly of Finley, ND passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Life Care Center in Attleboro.

Verna was born November 15, 1918 near Finley, ND to Bernt and Tilda ( Westland ) Wigen. She grew up and attended school in Steele County and graduated from Finley High School in 1937. She worked at different cafés in Finley until moving to Seattle, WA to work in the shipyards during the war. She married Paul Azevedo in Bremerton, WA. and relocated to the Rhode Island/Massachusetts area. She worked as a quality control or lab technician at several textile and electronic control manufacturing facilities, retiring from Texas Instruments Corporation in the early 1980's. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, scrap booking and crafting.

Verna will be missed and remembered by her sons Gary Azevedo of Attleboro, MA, Eugene Azevedo of Pascoag, RI, Douglas Azevedo of Providence, RI, and Joseph Azevedo of Taunton, MA; grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers David Wigen of Finley, ND and Orlando (Ila Mae) Wigen of Finley, ND; one sister Thelma Olson of Finley, ND; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Jerry Wigen and Ernest Wigen, and three sisters Alpha Ness, Viola Wigen and Doris Ann Wigen.

Graveside services for Verna will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Finley Cemetery. A time of fellowship & lunch will immediately follow in the Finley Lutheran Church. Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
