Robert S. Evensen, age 85, resident of Binford , ND died Friday, April 02, 2010 at the Carrington Health Center in Carrington , ND

Robert was born October 23, 1924 in Bryan Township , Griggs County , ND the son of Aamund and Aagot (Marstein) Evensen. He grew up and attended school in Griggs County . Robert started farming and raising cattle at the age of 18 after his father died. Originally he started with milk cows and worked his way into beef cattle. He married Jeannette Lyman on May 29, 1974 in Carrington , ND . After their marriage they continued to live on the farm Robert had built up prior to their marriage. Robert enjoyed watching his fruit trees grow. He was a good carpenter and a great gardener. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. For the last two years Robert and Jeannette had been spending their winters in Binford and their summers on the farm.

Robert will be deeply missed by his wife Jeannette of Binford, ND; step daughter Dee (Erling) Rolfson of New Rockford, ND; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Edith Helland and Ruth Larson, and niece Sandra Bedford.

Funeral services for Robert will be Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church , Binford , ND . Visitation will be Monday, April 5, 2010 from 3 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.  Officiating will be Reverend Marli Danielson.  Organist will be Theresa Fiebiger and soloist will be Paul Adrian, Jr.  Casketbearers will be Jeremy Hjelseth, Chris Hjelseth, Matthew Hjelseth, Michael Hjelseth, Jason Bedford and Damen Kjervestad.  Honorary Casketbearers will be Dwight Larson, Bill Rickford, Lannes Edlund, Lyle Edlund, Bob Brooks and LeRoy Eggermont.

Interment will be in the Binford Cemetery , Binford , ND . Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
