Raymond Lawrence
Savre, 67, resident of Cooperstown , ND passed
away Sunday, June 21, 2009 at his daughter's home in
Bismarck , ND after a bout with cancer.
Ray was born January 1, 1942 in Cooperstown , ND to
Avery Brush "Moonie" and Frances (Fritz) Savre.
He was raised in Cooperstown and attended Cooperstown
Public Schools. He served in the US Army. Ray was a
talented carpenter and farmer. As a young man
he worked at the Cooperstown Elevator and used his carpentry
skills to help his family build homes. He spent
a majority of his life working on the family farm.
Ray was a quiet and tender-hearted man whom loved his
family unconditionally. Ray embraced the traditional
things in life-decorating the Christmas tree, coloring
Easter eggs, carving pumpkins, making holiday meals
including lefse and kumla. He spent time with
family playing cards, farming, fishing, watching movies
and putting puzzles together with his grandkids. If
you knew Ray, you knew he was a Ford-guy through and
through. He looked forward to watching racing
on Sundays, especially when Fords were dominating.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Avery
Joseph Savre.
Ray will be missed deeply by many including his daughters
Ramie (Doug) Turner, Bismarck ND, Jessie Savre, Loveland
CO, Sara (Jimmy) Simon, Coto De Caza CA, five grandchildren,
a brother Donald (Jean) Savre, and nephews Preston (Athena)
Savre and Jason Savre all of Cooperstown.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 7,
2009 at 11:00 AM in the Cooperstown Cemetery . Fellowship
and food will follow at Zion Lutheran Church , Cooperstown
