Myrtle Stokkeland, age 102, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away at home on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.

Myrtle was born July 9, 1908 the daughter of Harris and Clara (Olson) Aslakson. She grew up and attended country school in Griggs County. She was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church. Myrtle married Torval Stokkeland on June 22, 1935 in Crookston, MN. After their marriage they lived in Juanita, ND for a short time before moving to a farm near Cooperstown. Myrtle enjoyed spending time in her flower beds, gardening and most recently doing embroidery work.

Myrtle will be missed and remembered by her daughter Ann (Keith) Austin of Fargo, ND; 3 Sons Gordon Stokkeland, Vernon (Darlene) Stokkeland and Curtis (Eileen) Stokkeland, all of Cooperstown; 13 grandchildren Brad, Kathy, Scott, Amanda, Vanessa, James, Russ, Mary, John, Paul, Lori, Kristi & Joel; 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; and a sister Syvilia Sutton of Cooperstown.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert, 1 great great grandchild Trevor, 6 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Prairie Faith Lutheran Church, Glenfield, ND. Visitation will be held at the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 4 PM to 6 PM and continue one hour prior to services in the church.  Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Kapelle.  Organist will be Colleen Greger with special music by Leslie Greger.  Spring interment will be in the Ottawa Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.
