Esther Marian (Rude) Oien, age 90, resident of Binford, ND passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her home under the care of family and Altru Hospice.

Esther was born February 3, 1920 at home in rural Hamar, ND the daughter of Herman and Marie (Haug) Rude. She grew up and attended country school in the Hamar area and graduated from Tolna High School. She married Frank Oien at rural Tolna in 1938. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, quilting, hosting family gatherings and taking part in all her church studies and activities. Esther was a member of Bethany Free Lutheran Church.

Esther will be remembered and deeply missed by her children and their spouses; Donna Mae (Donald) Ronningen of Binford, ND, Elouise (Russel) Nelson of Hannaford, ND and Wayne (Emma Jean) Oien of Binford, ND; grandchildren Michael (Jodi) Ronningen of Valley City, ND, Roger (Melody) Ronningen of Binford, ND, Jeffrey (Stacey) Ronningen of Binford, ND, Teresa (Gregory) Edland of Carrington, ND, Jason Ronningen of Fargo, ND, Kimberly (Eli) Peltier of Dunseith, ND, Kevin (Amy) Nelson of Dunseith, ND, Steven (Tara) Nelson of Valley City, ND, Thomas (Michelle) Nelson of Fargo, ND, Michelle Oien of Binford, ND and Charles (Kim) Oien of Elgin, ND; great grandchildren Kyle, Kendall & Kassidy Ronningen, Tim (Christy) Ronningen, Lynae (Clint) Klemisch, Carly & Brooke Ronningen, Shaye, Brandt & Callie Ronningen, Jacob, Bryce & Kenzie Edland, Lance & Lindsey Ekern, Emily & Patrick Nelson, Ryan, Andrew, Ashley, Samantha & Sydney Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Chase, Hunter & Addisen Oien; great-great grandchildren Lakin Ronningen, Brooklyn Nelson; sister-in-laws Hazel Rude of Tolna, ND and Glenna Larson of Binford, ND and Florence (Wallace) Thune of Fargo, ND; brother-in-law Daniel Oien of Binford, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Norman, Maynard and Helmer Rude, sisters Idora Knutson, Alvilde Johnson Seeb, Helga Oien and Dagny Mannie.

Funeral services for Esther will be Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Bethany Free Lutheran Church, Binford, ND. Visitation will be Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 4PM to 7PM with a 7PM prayer service in the Bethany Free Lutheran Church, Binford, ND.  Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Kinneberg.  Organist will be Teresa Edland.  Special music will be provided by Michelle Oien and Paul Adrian.  Casketbearers will be her grandchildren and Honorary Casketbearers will be her granddaughters.  Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery, Binford, ND.
