Elsie Elizabeth Eli, age 89, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Cooperstown Medical Center – Nursing Home.

Elsie was born May 9, 1921 in Kensal, ND the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Linski) Schmidt. She grew up and attended country school near Glenfield, ND. She married Joseph Eli on May 22, 1939. After their marriage they raised their family in Glenfield before moving to Portland, ND. Elsie worked in Mayville, ND as a nurse's aide for many years. They lived for a short time in Carson, ND. After Joseph died Elsie moved to Cooperstown, ND. Elsie enjoyed flower gardening, woodworking, making donuts and playing cards.

Surviving members of the family her seven children; Lola “Tootie” (Daniel) Rudnick of Drayton, ND, Alvin “Butch” (Barbara) Eli of Ft. Shaw, MT, Judy “Snooks” Hunter of Sanborn, ND, Ronald “Irish” (Spencé) Eli of Vaughn, MT, James “Jimmie” (Carol) Eli of Great Falls, MT, Jessie (Perry) Hogfoss of Portland, ND and Penny Friday of Hopkins, MN; 21 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and husband Joseph.

Funeral services for Elsie will be Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown, ND.  Officiating will be Reverend John Olson.  Special music will be the "Old Rugged Cross".  Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel. Interment will be in the spring at the Glenfield Cemetery, Glenfield, ND.
