Elmer L. Iverson, age 93, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly
Binford, ND passed away in Scottsdale on January 30,
2009.
Elmer was
born in Binford, ND on February 5, 1915 the son of Lewis
and Nettie (Rinde) Iverson. He grew up and attended
country school in Bryan Township and graduated from
McHenry High School. He married Shirley LaPlant in 1945.
Elmer, a successful North Dakota farmer, began spending
winters in Arizona during the late 1950's before permanently
relocating first to Mesa then to Scottsdale in 1970.
He married Dorothy Mullen in 1971. They continued to
spend summers in North Dakota. Elmer was fascinated
by the beauty and intricacy of handcrafted Native American
Art. He opened his retail shop, Iverson's Indian Arts,
in Scottsdale. Throughout the years, Elmer was involved
in real estate, the banking industry and served on numerous
boards in North Dakota. Elmer was known for his good
cheer, wit, and being every bit the gentleman. He touched
many in his 93 years and will be remembered with a smile,
cherished by his community of family and friends. His
long life was a blessing, his passing a great loss.

Elmer leaves
his memory and spirit to be carried on by his wife Dorothy
of Scottsdale, AZ; son Rod (Marilyn) Iverson of Binford,
ND; daughter Laurie (Tom) Beatty of San Francisco, CA;
daughter-in-law Teri Iverson of Binford, ND; sister
Anne Nielsen-Kreutz of Fargo, ND and numerous grandchildren,
great grandchildren and dear friends.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, son Paul, sister Hazel McBride,
brothers Lloyd and Norris.
Funeral services
for Elmer will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at
1:00 PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown,
ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in
the Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Cheri Danielson.
Pianist will be Nikki Boote. Soloist will
be Paul Adrian, Jr. Casketbearers will be Jessica
Iverson, Kennedy Briss, Paula Iverson, Samantha Briss,
Justin Iverson & Ryan Iverson. Burial will
be at the Iverson Family Cemetery on the farm near Binford,
ND.
