Charlotte Lee Berdal, age 61, resident of Grand Forks , ND passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Valley Memorial Homes Woodside Village in Grand Forks , ND .

Charlotte was born November 14, 1947 in Grand Forks , ND the daughter of Erick and Dorothy (Sypolt) Berdal. She grew up and attended school in the Hope, ND and Cooperstown , ND area. She graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1965. Charlotte received her teaching certificate from Valley City State Teachers College . During the summer she worked for her parents at the Johnson Store in Cooperstown and also the Finley Park Board where she managed the public swimming pool. Charlotte started teaching in Babbitt , MN before taking a job with the United States Government. During this time she taught at Midway Islands in the pacific for two years and then Zweibrucken , Germany for several years. She spent her last year teaching at Zama , Japan before illness forced her to retire.

Charlotte is survived by her sister Mary (Gladwin) Lynne of Warren, MN, brothers; Leslie (Kristi) Berdal of Aneta, ND, Daniel “Tucker” Berdal of Kloten, ND and James (Joan) Berdal of Colfax, WA, 7 nieces, 5 great nieces and 2 great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Charlotte will be Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church , Cooperstown , ND . Visitation will be Friday, April 24, 2009 from 4 PM to 8 PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and continue one hour prior to services in the church.   Officiating will be Reverend Jessica Merchant.  Organist will be Kathy Soma-Gawronski.  Casketbearers will be Leslie Berdal, Daniel Berdal, James Berdal, Wayne Berdal, John Berdal and Lyle Shephard.    Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery , Dahlen , ND . Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
