Syvilia Mabel
Sutton, age 95, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away
Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Cooperstown Medical
Center – Nursing Home.
Syvilia
was born on June 17, 1916 in Pilot Mound Township the
seventh child of Harris and Clara (Olson) Aslakson.
She grew up and attended school in Cooperstown, graduating
in 1934. Syvilia worked for the McVille Grocery &
Drug Store and a dry cleaning company in Crookston,
MN. On June 8, 1943 she married Merle Sutton at Cummings,
ND. They made their home on the family farm north of
Cooperstown. Merle passed away on July 12, 1969. Syvilia
worked at the Johnson Store and the nursing home in
Cooperstown. She lived on the farm until moving into
Cooperstown in 2009. Throughout her life Syvilia was
active with her church, she enjoyed cross county skiing,
snowmobiling, fishing, working in the flower garden,
rug making, quilting, feeding the birds, playing cards
and using the computer. She cherished her family and
loved spending time with them, especially on the holidays.
Syvilia
will be missed and remembered by her daughter Cheryl
(Elwood) Ellefson of Aneta, ND; 2 granddaughters Tammy
(Michael) Littlefield of New Town, ND and Chelsea Ellefson
of Aneta, ND; 2 great grandchildren Daniel & Rebecca
Littlefield.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter
Arlys, brother Norman and 7 sisters Ovidia, Hazel, Myrtle,
Marion, Lenora, Juliet and Helen.
Memorial
services for Syvilia will be Saturday, August 27, 2011
at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown,
ND. Visitation will be Friday, August 26, 2011 from
4 PM to 8 PM with an 8 PM prayer service in the Cooperstown
Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Michael
Jacobson. Special music by Kathy Soma-Gawronski
and Paul Adrian. Interment will be in the
West Prairie Cemetery, rural Binford, ND.
