MILDRED LILLIAN
GOPLEN, age 88, passed away peacefully on September
10, 2008, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, N.D.
Mildred
was born October 31, 1919, at Hannover, N.D. to George
and Emma (Albers) Perry. She attended the Lutheran Missouri
Synod Parochial school through the 8th grade and graduated
from high school in Center, N.D. On July 25, 1942 she
married Arne Goplen in Wimbledon, N.D. They farmed in
Griggs County until 1968, when they moved to Binford.
After the death of Arne in 1990, Mildred continued to
live in Binford until 2002 when she moved to Bethany
Homes in Fargo.
Mildred
was an active church member at Mable Lutheran Church
in Sutton and Trinity Lutheran in Binford. She served
as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School,
sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Mildred
was interested in everyone. She loved to know what was
going on at all times. She was very active in the social
life at Bethany and was always introducing you to her
new friends. She loved her family very much and will
be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
sister and friend.
She
is survived by sons Sherman (Eileen) Goplen, Fargo;
Marvin Goplen, Drake; grandchildren Leanne (Ryan) Zabriskie,
Spring, Texas; Penelope Goplen, Fargo and Steven Goplen,
Fargo; sister Lucille Heinle, Gladstone, N.D. and brother
Eugene Perry, Fargo and 5 nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband Arne, parents,
daughter-in-law Alice Goplen, sister Evelyn Oster Morast,
and sister-in-law Annie Perry.
The
family is very grateful for the time she spent at Bethany
Homes and for the wonderful care she received.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethany Homes
or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral
Services for Mildred will be Friday, September 12, 2008
at 3:00 PM at Bethany Homes and on Saturday, September
13, 2008, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran in Binford.
There
will be a visitation at the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel
Friday, September 12, 2008, from 7:00 PM. to 8:30 PM,
and continue one hour prior to services in the church.
Interment
will be in the Binford Cemetery.
