LeRoy Palmer
Stromsodt died Thursday, July 14, 2011 in the Cooperstown
Medical Center-Hospital at the age of 72 surrounded
by his family after a courageous three month battle
with Lung Cancer.
LeRoy
was born in rural Sharon, ND on August 10, 1938
to Seibert and May (Christopherson) Stromsodt. Leroy
was baptized and confirmed at Ringsaker Lutheran Church,
rural Cooperstown. LeRoy graduated from Sharon High
School in 1957. He married Nadine Pratt on June
16, 1964. He married Janet (Larson) Saxberg on
April 29, 1988. Janet passed away June 9, 2002.
LeRoy was a life-long carpenter and farmer. He will
be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing, skill
in smoking meat, and his enjoyment in playing a good
game of pinochle with his brothers.
LeRoy
is survived by three daughters and two step-sons: Sharon
(George) Maertens of rural Cooperstown, ND, Laurie Knutson
of Glyndon, MN, Rhonda (Rodney) Gaden of Fargo, ND,
Brian (Lisa) Saxberg of Cooperstown, ND and Christopher
Saxberg of Florida. Grandchildren: Christina (Trevor)
Pikula of Osage, MN, Matthew (Amanda) Maertens of
Jamestown, ND, Jennifer Maertens of Cooperstown, Michael,
Michayla and Abbigail Maertens of rural Cooperstown,
JoAnna Knutson of Bismarck, ND, Leah and Javontae Knutson
of Glyndon, MN, Brandon Gaden of Fargo, ND. Step-Grandchildren:
Kassie and Katina Gaden of Fargo, ND, Kristen (Dustin)
Kerber of Fargo, ND, Lexi, Caitie, Maddie, Emily, Benji,
Sophie, Trevin and Hazen Saxberg of Cooperstown. Great-Grandchildren:
Emily Maertens, Daesean and DeJanae Knutson, Madison
Gaden. Brothers: Charles Stromsodt and Sherman ( Alice
) Stromsodt of rural Cooperstown. Nephew and Niece:
Scott (Teresa) Stromsodt of Bismarck ND, Tracy (John)
Puttre, WI and several cousins.
LeRoy
was preceded in death by his parents May and Seibert
Stromsodt, wife Janet Stromsodt, and several aunts and
uncles.
Funeral
services for LeRoy will be Wednesday, July 20, 2011
at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Binford,
ND. Officiating will be Reverend Jessica Merchant.
Organist will be Theresa Fiebiger. Special music
will be April Maertens and Trevor Pikula. Visitation
will be Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 5PM to 7:30PM with
a 7:30PM prayer service in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be in the Ringsaker Cemetery, rural Cooperstown.
