Charles “Chuck” E. Gruman,
age 71, of Hannaford, ND died Sunday, September 21,
2008 at his home.
Chuck
was born to the late Joseph and Rose (Fiebiger) Gruman
on April 29, 1937. He graduated from Hannaford High
School and entered the United States Army and was honorably
discharged. While farming he attended North Dakota State
University where he received a Bachelor degree in Agriculture
Economics. He married Carmen (Johnson) Gruman in 1968.
Carmen passed away in 1978. He then married Denise (Triebold)
Gruman in 1989.
Chuck enjoyed making and designing things around the
farm. He served on the North Dakota Barley Council from
1991 – 1997. He was member of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in rural Dazey and served on St. Mary’s
cemetery board. Chuck enjoyed spending time with his
family and visiting with friends.
Charles is survived by his wife Denise of Hannaford,
ND; 4 daughters, Sue (Karl) Kraft of Minnesota, Audra
(Steven) Coppa of Colorado, Karla (Rob) Rippchen of
Iowa, and Katherine Gruman of Hannaford, ND; son, Mark
Gruman of Minnesota; he is also survived by six grandsons,
Michael Kraft, Nathan Kraft, Joseph Coppa, Nicholas
Coppa, Brett Rippchen and Jack Rippchen; 4 brothers,
Robert (Mary) Gruman of South Dakota, Jerry (Glenna)
Gruman of Hannaford, ND, Larry (Pam) Gruman of Hannaford,
ND, and Allen Gruman of Cooperstown, ND.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and wife
Carmen.
Funeral services for Charles will be Thursday, September
25, 2008 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church
of Dazey, ND. Officiating will be Father Steven Meyer
and Father Matthew Attansey. Casketbearers will be Josh
Abraham, Eric Broten, Troy Haugen, Brad Guler, Gene
Amann, Jim Broten and Allen Eslinger. Honorary casketbearers
will be Michael Kraft, Nathan Kraft, Joseph Coppa, Nicholas
Coppa, Brett Rippchen and Jack Rippchen. Organist will
be Cheryl Weller. Military Honors will be conducted
by the Mervin J. Armstrong American Legion Post #113.
Soloist will be Kathy Soma-Gawronski. Visitation will
be Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 2 PM to 5 PM in
the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel followed by a Prayer
service at 7:00 PM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church
of rural Dazey, ND. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s
Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements with the Cooperstown
Funeral Chapel.
