Alma G. Swenson, age 82, resident of Hatton , ND formerly Finley , ND died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the Tri County Health Center in Hatton , ND.

Alma was born August 1, 1925 in Fargo , ND , the daughter of Hilda (Groven) Rud. She was baptized and confirmed at Bang Lutheran Church , rural Portland , ND and attended country school at Primrose #2. She married Kenneth Swenson on February 7, 1950 at Fargo , ND and eventually moved to the family farm, living there 49 years. Alma was a farmer's wife - milking cows, selling cream and eggs and hauling grain. She also worked as a waitress and cook in Mayville, Fargo , Finley, and Cooperstown , ND . She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and active in Ladies Aid, Circle and teaching Sunday school at Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church , rural Finley. She enjoyed working on family history, her flower garden, reading, music, and crafts. She especially liked to cook and bake and always had the coffee pot on. She gave a loving home to many strays and pets, including lambs, rabbits, cats and her beloved dogs.

She leaves to mourn her daughters, Marilyn Poole of Fargo, ND, Cathy Swenson of McVille, ND; daughter-in-law, Barb Swenson of Eden Prairie, MN; two grandchildren, Bryan (Tammy) Olson and Heidi (Paul) Heinen; 7 great grandchildren, Eli, Tate, Kali, and Ayla Olson; and Andrew, Jackson, and Mara Heinen; 2 sisters, Betty Johnson of Arthur, ND and Irene (Jim) Mack of Lake Crystal, MN; 4 brothers, John Rud of Anthem Way, NV, Lloyd (Frances) Rud of Wilmington, NC, Roy (Bonnie) Rud of Buffalo, MN and Zane (Mary Beth) Rud of Albertville, MN and one aunt, Olga Strombom of Santa Rosa, CA.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son and 2 brothers.

Funeral services for Alma will be Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2:30 PM in the Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church of rural Finley , ND.  Officiating will be Pastor Kristen Schwan.  Visitation will be Friday, February 15, 2008 from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Sheyenne Valley Cemetery , rural Finley. Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
