Agnes Lenora
Aaserud was born in Cooperstown, ND on January 16, 1929
to Otto and Martha Aaserud and lived near Hannaford,
ND until 1938 when the family moved to the Aaserud farm
near Portland ND. Agnes died at Mayville Union Hospital
under Hospice care Saturday, June 14, 2008.
Agnes
attended rural schools in Griggs County and in Roseville
Township in Traill County. She graduated from
Mayville High School in 1947. She attended Mayville
State Teachers College during the 1947-1948 school year,
graduating from the standard teaching course in 1951.
Agnes taught for 17 years in several rural schools in
Traill and Griggs County and in Ayr, Cooperstown, and
Hannaford.
On
June 12, 1965 Agnes married Orville Kalvik at the Trinity
Lutheran Church (Roseville) near Portland. They lived
and worked together on the Kalvik family farm near Hannaford.
Since September of 2007 she and Orville lived in Fargo
with sister Edna Erickson. Recently, she and her husband
lived with sister and brother-in-law Gladys and John
Aasen in Clifford under the care of Hospice and the
help of her son Keith.
Agnes
was always active in all the activities of her church
and community wherever she was - Luther League and LDR
at Roseville , WELCA and Family League at Union Lutheran
Church, Thrivent representative from Union, etc. She
always enjoyed listening to Orville make music, as well
as gardening, embroidering, crafts and creative writing.
Agnes
is survived by her husband Orville and two sons: Arlen
(Roberta) and Keith all in Fargo. Also surviving are
three sisters: Edna Erickson, Langdon and Fargo, Gladys
(John) Aasen, Grand Forks and Clifford and Marie Brauer,
Reseda CA; one brother Clarence (Karen) Aaserud, Edgewood
WA, three sisters-in-law: Joyce Aaserud, Moorhead, Martha
Aaserud, Las Vegas, NV and Marlene, Waterloo, IN as
well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded
in death by her sister Helen Aaserud, brothers: Martin,
Oswald and Erling and brothers-in-law: Henry Erickson
and Richard Brauer.
Funeral
services for Agnes will be Thursday, June 19, 2008 at
11:00 AM in the Hannaford Community Center, Hannaford,
ND. Officiating will be Reverend Jerry Rosin.
Organist will be Denise Amann. Special music by
an acoustic group. Visitation will be June
18, 2008 from 4 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM family service
in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel. Interment will be
in the Union Cemetery near Hannaford, ND.
