Agnes
A. Johnson, age 92, died August 15, 2008 at Valley Eldercare
in Grand Forks. Agnes Johnson was born January
31, 1916 to Martha and Oscar Adrian of rural Binford.
She attended rural elementary school and graduated from
Binford High School. She went on to Concordia
College and received a liberal arts degree. She
taught in North Dakota schools at Antelope, Kingsley
Township, Rosendahl, and Mose. She married Henry
Johnson in 1941. They farmed near Mose for 20
years before moving to Binford, ND. Agnes was
employed at the grocery store and did substitute teaching.
Agnes
was always actively involved in her church. She
started a Sunday School at Naaron Lutheran Church in
Mose and later was involved in the education and
church women programs at Trinity Lutheran in Binford. She
served the community on the Bryan Township School Board,
Trinity Cemetery Board and was active in Senior Citizens.
Her
pride and joy, however, was her flower garden and she
devoted many hours to keeping it beautiful.
In
2005 Agnes moved to Grand Forks to take up residence
at Tufte Manor. Here she met new friends, continued
her love for gardening and enjoyed many whist games.
Agnes
is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Loren) Johnson
of Great Falls, Montana, and Ellen (Larry) Hoiberg of
Grand Forks, ND; one son, Eugene (Debra) of Great Falls,
Montana; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents;
and four brothers.
The
Funeral Service for Agnes will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday,
August 20, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford
ND. Visitation
will be from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm on
Tuesday, August 19th at the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel
in Cooperstown, ND. Interment
will be in the Binford Cemetery.
