Una Blomquist
of Edmore, ND, passed away on Monday, September 12,
2011 at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND.
She was 99.
Una
Emmeline Overbye was born January 28, 1912 to Palmer
and Emma ( Ness ) Overbye at the family farm near Fairdale,
ND. Una had four brothers and two sisters, all of whom
predeceased her. She attended school at Fairdale and
Nekoma, ND. She earned a teaching certificate from Mayville
State Teachers College and taught school until her marriage.
Una
married Albin Blomquist of Edmore on June 2, 1935. Albin
and Una farmed and raised their six children in the
Edmore area. Albin passed away in November of 1978.
Una
was very involved in her community and in her church,
Concordia Lutheran, all of her life. She led the Bible
study for Concordia's WELCA every month until the age
of 97. She continued to work with the quilting group
at Concordia until the time of her death.
Una
served as clerk of the Edmore School Board for thirty
years. She was a charter member of the Shamrock Club,
formed in 1953.
Una
is survived by her children, Alan (Phyllis) of Grand
Forks , David (Terry) of Pembina, Philip ( Virginia
) of Grafton, Eunice (Ardus) Nelson of Grand Forks ,
and Linda (John) Murphy of East Grand Forks, MN; seventeen
grandchildren; and twenty eight great-grandchildren.
Una
was preceded in death by her husband, Albin; her daughter,
Eleanor Paulson Baker; and two granddaughters, Karen
Blomquist and Kathi Paulson.
Una's
Funeral Service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church
of Edmore on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
Officiating will be Jodi Myrvik. Interment will be in
the Edmore Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the
church on Friday, beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the
time of service.
