Thor Skjerseth,
age 92, died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Napoleon Care
Center , Napoleon, ND.
Thor
was born on November 1, 1917 at the Torvold Skjerseth
farm near Brocket. His parents, Gunder and Borghild,
emigrated from Norway to the United States a few months
prior to Thor's birth. Thor married Clara Fuchs on January
3, 1942. They farmed and raised their eight children
in the Rubin Township area where Thor was the assessor
there for many years.
Thor
loved his family, baseball, playing cards, working word
puzzles, woodworking, and dancing. He had a great sense
of humor always enjoying a good joke and playing practical
jokes.
Thor
will be deeply missed by his children, Tim (Ruth) of
Minot, Terry (Pam) of Fargo, Clarice (Ally) Dorrance
of Springfield, MO, Mary Kay (Roy) Hall of Greeley,
CO, Gordon (Beth) Mandan, Steve of Fargo, Brian (Linda)
of Fargo, and Celeste (Norm) Kleppe of Napoleon; 19
grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren (plus two on
the way); his sisters, Ruth (Harold) Severson and Gladys
Dahl both of Lakota, and Bunny McClary of St. Louis
Park, MN; and many cousins, nieces, nephews.
Thor
was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; his parents,
Gunder and Borghild; his brothers, Peter and Jimmy;
and his sisters, Goodrun and Betty.
Thor's
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday,
July 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lakota. Interment
will be in the Lakota Cemetery. A public visitation
will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, ending with a
Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Aaker Funeral Home
in Lakota.
