Selmer B.
Severson, age 77, resident of Michigan, ND, died Thursday,
January 28, 2010 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center.
Selmer
was born August 25, 1932 on his parents farm south of
Mapes, ND, the son of Hans and Inga (Kvenlog) Severson.
He attended the Williams Township School through the
8 th grade, then graduated from Michigan High School
in 1951. Selmer married Joyce Hatten on December 13,
1952. They started farming in the spring of 1953 and
continued to do so until retiring in 1992. In 1999 Selmer
& Joyce moved to Michigan, ND where they have resided
since. Selmer was very active in his church and community.
He held numerous offices in the McVille Tri-Parish and
Center Lutheran Church. Selmer was Clerk/Treasurer of
Williams Township and later Central Township for over
50 years. He was a board member of Farmers Union Oil
Co. of Michigan and the Farmers Home Administration
of Lakota. Selmer loved his farm and his family. He
was a man of great patience and kindness. He was happiest
when all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
were at his side. He moved to the Lakota Good Samaritan
Center on December 11, 2009.
Selmer
will be deeply missed by his wife Joyce of 57 years;
his children, JoDee (Mike) Aafedt of West Fargo, ND,
Tracy (Brad) Bushee of East Grand Forks, MN, and Jason
Severson of Michigan, ND; four grandchildren, Darcy
(Scott Hanson) Aafedt, Chandler, AZ, Jeremy (Nikki)
Bushee, Emerado, ND, Scott Aafedt, Fargo, ND, and April
(Paul) Hansen, East Grand Forks, MN; four great grandchildren,
Alexa Hanson, Emery Hanson, Bryce Bushee, and Braden
Bushee; 2 brothers, Harold (Ruth) Severson of Lakota
and Gerald Severson of Fargo; and several nieces and
nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his sister &
brother-in-law, Alice & James Reineke; and 2 brothers,
Ivan and Johnny.
Selmer's
Funeral Service will be held at the Michigan Lutheran
Church on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
Officiating will be the Reverend Sue Mackey. Music will
be provided by Jason Flom. Interment will be in the
spring at the Center Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural
McVille. The casketbearers will be Burton Sateren, Darwin
Tallman, David Sateren, Randy Severson, Elmer Dale Sateren,
Nick Reineke, Dan Reineke, and David Reineke. The honorary
bearers will be Selmer's nieces & nephews and all
of his friends. Visitation will be held at the Aaker
Funeral Home of Lakota on Tuesday, beginning at 2:00
p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will
continue at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m.
until the time of service.
