Rosemarie
C. Vasichek, age 69, resident of Lakota, ND, died Friday,
December 14, 2007 at her home in Lakota.
Rosemarie
Catherine Jonas was born July 9, 1938 at Devils Lake, ND,
the daughter of James and Mary (Herda) Jonas. She was raised
on her parents farm northeast of Brocket, ND. She attended
the Sauter School and was a 1956 graduate of Brocket High
School. Rosemarie married Joseph W. Vasichek on October
17, 1956 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Lomice, rural
Lawton, ND. She then attended Valley City State College
and obtained her teaching degree. She was a member of Kappa
Delta Pi Sorority in Valley City. Rosemarie taught at many
schools over the years, including Shepherd Township, Perth
Township, Whitman, and Pelto. Rosemarie and Joe moved to
Valley City for a few years, and while there, she continued
working towards a master's degree. They moved to Michigan,
ND in 1970 where she would teach for the next 15 years.
They moved to Lakota in 1972. Most recently she taught in
Cooperstown and McVille before retiring in 2001. She continued
living in Lakota and substitute teaching there. Rosemarie
was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was Past President
of the Altar Society. She loved gardening, canning, playing
the accordion and organ. She greatly enjoyed spending time
with her family and was very supportive of them.
Rosemarie
will be greatly missed by her husband, Joseph Vasichek of
Lakota, ND; 3 daughters, JoAnne Simonian of Gilbert, AZ,
JoLynn "Jeanie" and her husband Jeff Olson of East Grand
Forks, MN, and JoEllen and her husband Craig Ralston of
Maple Valley, WA; 6 grandchildren, Kirah, Kyle, Corey, Michael,
Andrew, and Cate.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Marvin
Jonas; and son-in-law, Martin Simonian.
The Funeral Mass for Rosemarie will be
held at St. Mary Catholic Church of Lakota on Thursday, December
20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Celebrating the Mass will be the Very
Rev. Fr. Scott Sautner. Music will be provided by the St.
Mary Church Choir, Barbara Johnson is the organist. Interment
will be in the Lakota Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Gordon
Matejcek, David Matejcek, Larry Johnson, Monte Novak, Jon
McLean, Ken Schuh, Robert Honkola, and Craig Ralston. Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Wednesday,
December 19, 2007 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the family present
at 5:30 p.m. A Rosary and Vigil Service will be held at 7:30
p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue
at the Church on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of
Mass.
