Robert Kangas,
age 81, resident of rural Crary, ND, died Sunday, June
29, 2008 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Charles
Robert Kangas was born December 25, 1926 near Whitman,
ND, on the farm of his parents, Arthur R. and Jennie
W. (Moilanen) Kangas. At a young age he moved with his
family to Robert's current farm home near Crary. He
attended the Hope School near Southam, ND. Robert married
Jean M. Hudson on October 28, 1955 at Brocket, ND. They
farmed their entire life together. Jean died October
9, 2003. Robert continued living on the family farm,
as he truly loved being a farmer. He was a member of
the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church at Pelto, ND
until it closed in 1966, when he became a member of
United Lutheran Church in Brocket. He was a past member
of the Eagles Club in Devils Lake, and is a 21 year
member of the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post #21
in Lakota.
Bob
will be greatly missed by his 3 daughters, Marilyn Haverluck
of Grand Island, NE, Karen and her husband Jerry Harden
of Northwood, ND, and Sandra Kangas of Northwood, ND;
9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; and
1 niece.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean
in 2003; his daughter, Roberta in 1986; and his sister,
Lila Peterson in 1996.
Bob's
Funeral Service will be held at United Lutheran Church
of Brocket, ND, on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.
Officiating will be the Reverend Joel Westby. The pianist
will be Diane Beirwagen and the soloist will be Sharon
Olson. Interment will be in the Enterprise Cemetery,
rural Brocket. Casketbearers will be Edward Haverluck
Jr., Noah Haverluck, Cody Haverluck, Jeremiah Harden,
Terry Thomson, and Robert Cunningham. Military Honors
will be conducted by the Rundell-Holicky American Legion
Post #21 of Lakota. Visitation will be held at the Aaker
Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday, July 4, 2008 from
4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and will continue at the church
on Saturday, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
