Orlin A. Bondy, age 73, resident of Petersburg, ND died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.

Orlin was born to Arne and Josephine Bondy on September 18, 1935, on the family farm. Orlin grew up on the farm and attended Dahlen Public School, graduating from Dahlen High School in 1953. Orlin served in the United States Army for two years from December 1954 to January 1956. After the service Orlin attended the University of North Dakota for a year. He then attended Aakers Business College graduating in 1961. At this time Orlin returned to the family farm and began farming with his brother Arnold (Bud).

Orlin married Marilyn Morey Nelson on June 28, 1973 in Petersburg, North Dakota. After their marriage they lived and farmed on the family farm.

Orlin was a member of the John Larson American Legion Post #247 in Petersburg. He served on the church council, the school board and was active in both 4H and FFA. Orlin ran for the House in 1998 with the Democratic party.  In retirement, Orlin and Marilyn enjoyed going on bus tours. Another highlight was a trip to see the Bondy Homestead in Norway.

Orlin will be missed and remembered by his wife Marilyn of Petersburg, ND, 4 children; Brent (Becky) of Grafton, ND, Brian of Tolna, ND, John (Missy) of Michigan, ND and Jaime (Mandy) of Fordville, ND, 8 grandchildren; Jared, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Seth, Austin, Madison, Colton and Jayden, 2 brothers; Gordon (Pauline) Bondy of Grand Forks, ND and Arnold Bondy of Petersburg, ND, sister Lila Schoyen of Enderlin, ND, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Orlin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Owen Bondy, Sr. and sister Ione Carlson.

Funeral services for Orlin will be Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Dahlen Lutheran Church, Dahlen, ND. Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2008 from 3PM to 6PM with a prayer service at 6PM all in the Dahlen Lutheran Church.  Officiating will be Reverend Gary Knabe.  Organist will be Avis Fjestad.  Soloist will be Leon Fjestad.  Duet by Lori Ternquist and Mary Ralston.  Casketbearers will be Rod Bondy, Gary Bondy, Steven Bondy, Larry Humble, Arvin Carlson, Jerry Carlson, Wayne Fleischfresser and Owen Bondy, Jr.  Interment will be in the Middle Forest Cemetery, Dahlen, ND. Military Honors will be provided by the John Larson American Legion Post #247 of Petersburg, ND. Arrangements with the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota.
