Olga Marie (Hanson) Dahlen died at the age of 93 on July 16, 2008 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

She was born January 30, 1915 in Dahlen Township in what is the current home of her son, Arlan and wife Janice. Parents were Peter and Sena (Midthun) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed at Quale Lutheran Church, rural Fordville. She was raised and educated in Cleveland and Dahlen Townships. She married Rudolph Dahlen on September 16, 1936 at the Petersburg Parsonage. They lived, raised their family, and farmed in Dahlen Township all their married life.

In 1967 they moved to Dahlen. Rudolph died in 1996 and Olga moved to an apartment in Cavalier in 2001. She entered the Wedgewood Manor Nursing Home at Cavalier in 2007.

Olga loved her family very much and honored each by cooking and baking their favorite foods (lefse being the most popular). Family dinners after church were a common occurrence. Coffee time at her home with friends was a daily source of enjoyment. She was a member of the Dahlen Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, Arlan (Janice) Dahlen of Dahlen; 2 daughters, Sharon Schluchter of Cavalier and Janice (Gary) McLaughlin of Lankin; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, Shelley (Garry) Friedt and their children, Joshua, Jamie and Jaden, Cavalier, ND; Kevin (Belinda) Schluchter and their children, Cole, Kennedy and Keaton, Indianapolis, IN; Cindy (Dean) Reiter and their children, Rachel and Michael, Froid, MT; Trisha (Rick) Sather and their children, Megan and Gavin, Canton, MI; Wanda (Dave) McSparron and their child, Kallan, Dilworth, MN; Kent (Lori) Schluchter and their children, Kaia and Anja, Cavalier, ND; Nancy (Eric) Kolstoe and their children, Peyton and Brooke, Glenwood, MN; Chad (Karla) McLauglin and their children, Hope, Nikita, Haille and Evan, Lankin, ND.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters - one in infancy and Hannah Jallo of Fordville, and son-in-law Keith Schluchter of Cavalier.

Olga's Funeral Service will be held at the Dahlen Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Gary Knabe. The organist will be Avis Fjestad and the soloist will be Mary Ralston. Interment will be in the Middle Forest River Cemetery, rural Dahlen. Casketbearers will be Olga's grandchildren, Shelley (Schluchter) Friedt, Kevin Schluchter, Cindy (Dahlen) Reiter, Wanda (Dahlen) McSparron, Trisha (McLaughlin) Sather, Chad McLaughlin, Kent Schluchter and Nancy (Schluchter) Kolstoe. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, July 18, 2008 beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
