Norman Hanson,
age 91, resident of Edmore, ND, died Saturday, April
18, 2009 at the First Care Health Center in Park River,
ND.
Carl Norman Hanson was born June 10, 1917 at rural Edmore,
ND, the son of Henry and Hilda (Beck) Hanson. He attended
the Triumph Township School and was confirmed at Concordia
Lutheran Church, where he still is a member. He was
inducted into the U.S. Army Air Force on June 9, 1942.
Norman served his country in World War II and was honorably
discharged with the rank of Sergeant on September 6,
1945. After his discharge he worked on various construction
jobs in Montana, Washington, and Oregon. He retired
in 1979 and returned to Edmore. He was a member of the
VFW, American Legion, and the Edmore Senior Citizens.
More recently, Norman was a resident of the Edmore Memorial
Rest Home until his death.
Norman
is survived by his sister, Gladys Bauer of Ramsey, MN;
and nine nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers,
Harold, Willie, and Hans; and two sisters, Alice Braaten
and Helen Nelson.
Norman
's Funeral Service will be held at the Concordia Lutheran
Church of Edmore, ND, on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at
1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Jodi Myrvik. The organist
will be John Martinson and the soloist will be Edval
Helle. Interment will be in the spring at the Edmore
Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Gerald Bauer, Donald
Hanson, Arlen Nelson, Greg Bauer, Jerry Bauer, Donald
Radeck, Mark Carlisle, and Derrick Beck. Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on
Wednesday, April 22, 2009 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with
a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue
at the church on Thursday, from 12:00 p.m. until the
time of service.
