Mildred (
Lund ) Robinson Simons, age 94, resident of Lakota,
ND, died peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at
the Lakota Good Samaritan Center surrounded by her children.
Mildred
Lund was born January 9, 1916 in Enterprise Township
on the Lund farm near Brocket, the daughter of Nels
and Mina (Mikkelson) Lund. Mildred was baptized at Hoff
Lutheran Church. She attended the Pelto School and graduated
from Lakota High School in 1933. Mildred married John
W. Robinson on January 9, 1935 at Michigan, ND. They
made their home at rural Brocket, where they farmed
and raised their children. Mildred worked for the Soil
Conservation District in Lakota for many years. She
was a member of the Hoff and United Lutheran church
of Brocket where she was the organist and also sang
in the choir. She was also a member of the Cleveland
Homemakers. The couple moved to Lakota in 1974. She
sang in the choir and was a member of Rebecca Circle
at the Lakota Lutheran Church. Her husband John passed
away November 10, 1975. Mildred married Arve Simons
on May 28, 1977 . Arve died March 1, 1995. Mildred will
be remembered for her love of family and instilling
close family ties. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and
playing piano. Her excellent baking and cooking was
enjoyed by so many, especially her donuts, lefse, and
hotdish. She has resided at the Good Samaritan Center
since 2004.
Mildred
will be missed by her 5 children, Jerry (Arlene) Robinson
of Lakota, Larry Robinson of Tioga, ND, Mina (the late
Roland) Eckes of Devils Lake, ND Elaine (Norman) Morken
of Devils Lake, ND, and Donna (David) Larson of Lakota,
ND; 3 stepsons, Earl (Ruth) Simons of Brooklyn Center,
MN, Wayne (Darlene) Simons of Longville, MN, and Glen
(the late Audrey) Simons of Eden Prairie, MN; 2 stepdaughters,
Suzanne (Arvis) Sullivan and Zola Simons, both of Brooklyn
Center, MN; sister, Norma Tangen of Fargo, ND; Mildred
has 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1
great-great-grandchild. On the Simons side there are
several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; infant children,
John, Mina, and Dean; husbands, John and Arve; son-in-law,
Roland Eckes; 2 sisters, Clara McArthur and Agnes Evenson;
a brother, Elmer Lund Sr.; and 2 step-sons, Orin and
James Simons.
Mildred's
Funeral Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran
Church on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating
will be the Reverend Sue Mackey. The organist will be
Karen Fowler, with a piano duet by Mykal and Kaisa Morstad.
Interment will be in the Hoff Cemetery, rural Brocket.
Casketbearers will be Dean Morken, John Robinson, Cory
Eckes, Wayne Larson, Brenda Morken, and Mykal Morstad.
Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Mildred's grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at
the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Sunday, November
21, 2010 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and
will continue at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m.
until the time of service.
