Melvin
A. Sandlan, age 79, resident of Edmore, ND, died Friday,
May 16, 2008 at First Care Health Center in Park River,
ND.
Melvin
Adolph Sandlan was born December 17, 1928 on his parents
farm near Edmore, ND, the son of Andrew and Mabel
(Anderson) Sandlan. He was raised on the farm and
began his education in 1936 at the Fancher Township
#2 school. Following elementary school Melvin helped
his parents with the farm. Andrew died June 2, 1956.
Melvin then took over operation of the farm and lived
there with his mother's assistance with the farming
chores. In the early 1970's they moved into Edmore.
Melvin was a lifelong string instrument musician,
mostly the violin, mandolin, and banjo. He was a member
of the band "The 3 M's and Ed". Melvin retired from
farming in 1992. Mabel died December 21, 2002. In
2003 Melvin moved to the Edmore Memorial Rest Home.
Melvin
will be deeply missed by his brother, Vernon &
his wife Therese Sandlan of Gilbert, AZ; several nieces,
nephews, and friends in the Edmore community.
Melvin's Funeral Service will be
held at Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND, on
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will
be Pastor Don Reynolds. Music selections will be provided
by Lois Myrvik. Interment will be in the Edmore Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Robert Mueller, Russell Mueller,
Dale Mueller, Gary Mueller, Bruce Mueller, Paul Aslakson,
Greg Thingelstad, and Marlyn Strand. Visitation will
be held at the church on Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until
the time of service.
