Maurice F.
Robinson, age 85, resident of Michigan, ND, died Wednesday,
June 2, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Maurice
Francis Robinson was born April 27, 1925 at Fortuna,
ND, the son of Verne and Marie (Milligan) Robinson.
His mother died in 1929. He then moved to Michigan,
ND, and was raised by his grandparents, Robert and Emma
Milligan. Maurice attended school in Michigan, graduating
from Michigan High School in 1943. He served in the
U.S. Navy from 1943 until his honorable discharge in
1945. He then attended UND for 1 year and Mayville State
Teachers College, where he graduated in 1950 with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He taught for
2 years at Knox, ND. He then received the position of
rural mail carrier at Michigan, where he served for
41 years. Maurice married Mary Lou Anderson on November
24, 1954 at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church of
Michigan, where he was a lifelong parishioner. They
lived in Michigan , and in 1961 they moved into the
Milligan house, Maurice's childhood home. Maurice was
very active in civic affairs and held many positions
in town. He was the clerk of the Michigan School Board
for 19 years, was the city auditor, and a long time
member of the W.L. Cowper American Legion Post #238.
He enjoyed gardening, taking walks, and watching various
sporting events.
Maurice
will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary Lou Robinson
of Michigan; 7 sons, Tom of Michigan, Bob of Eagle River,
AK, Bill (Peggy) of Mandan, ND, Maury (Robae) of Anchorage,
AK, Dan of Lakewood, CO, John (Bobbie) of Palmer, AK,
and Steve of Fargo, ND; 3 daughters, Sarah Robinson
of Fargo, ND, Liz (Steve) Lichen of Evergreen, CO, and
Emily Robinson (Menno te Koppele) of San Francisco,
CA; 15 grandchildren, Bob, Amy & Charlie, Jessica
& Alise, Taylor & Ansley, Reece & Ramey,
Joshua, Jhacie, Jake, Wyatt, Aries, and Brooks; 1 sister,
Olive Muff of Overland Park, KS; 3 half sisters, Marilyn
(Mark) Waldo, Dorothy (Lee) Schick, and Lois (Lew) Johnson;
1 half brother, Richard Robinson; 2 sisters-in-law,
Lee and Tina Robinson; and nieces & nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Clay,
Jim, and Tom Robinson; 1 half sister, Elaine; 1 half
brother, Dwayne Robinson; and a brother-in-law, Al Muff.
Maurice's
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic
Church of Michigan on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10:00
a.m. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. John Aerts. Music
will be provided by the St. Lawrence O'Toole Church
Choir with Dolly Devlin the organist. Interment will
be in the Michigan Cemetery . The casketbearers will
be all of Maurice's grandchildren. Military Honors will
be accorded by the W.L. Cowper American Legion Post
#238 of Michigan . Visitation will be held at the Aaker
Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday, June 4, 2010 beginning
at 4:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation
will continue at the Church on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m.
until the time of Mass.
