Malcolm
W. Bagne, age 68, resident of Lakota, ND, died Saturday,
October 13, 2007 at his home in Lakota.
Malcolm
Wayne Bagne was born December 4, 1938 at Northwood, ND,
the son of Henry J. and Helmi (Raketti) Bagne. Shortly after,
the family moved to Lakota. Mal grew up in the area and
attended Illinois country school. He graduated from Dakota
Lutheran Academy High School in Minot, ND, and Concordia
College in Moorhead, MN. He served in the U.S. Army from
1958 to 1961 in the 101 st Airborne Division. He married
Mary Margaret Johnson on September 2, 1962 at Melrose Lutheran
Church, rural Michigan, ND. They lived in Moorhead, Dilworth,
and Minneapolis, MN, where Mal was employed by International
Harvester Credit Corporation. In 1974 they returned to Lakota
where Mal took over the family farm. He was also part owner
and manager of NET computer company in Devils Lake. Mal
will be lovingly remembered by his family for his quiet,
gentle manner, his patience, and his principles. He enjoyed
farming, traveling, camping, fishing, morning coffee with
his friends, reading, spending time with his family, and
his dog "Snuggles". During the past several winters he especially
enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Latin American Lutheran
Mission in Laredo, TX, and Mexico. He was a member of the
Lakota Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and was
past Church Council President.
Mal
will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary Bagne of Lakota;
3 daughters, Anne & her husband Javen Holm of Fairmont,
MN, Tanya Marcketti & her special friend Ken Kucera
of Denver, CO, and Kathleen & her husband Michael Decker
of Greenville, SC; 6 grandchildren, Brady, Brennan &
Bryce Holm, and Benjamin, Samantha & Rachel Decker;
his stepmother, Doris Bagne of Lakota; and a brother-in-law,
Larry Bosh of Lawton, ND.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alice Bosh;
and a stepbrother, Stephen Stefonowicz.
Mal's
Funeral Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran Church
of Lakota, ND, on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.
Officiating will be Reverend Joel Westby and Reverend Michael
Decker. Music will be provided by the Lakota Lutheran Church
Choir accompanied by Diane Beirwagen and the organist will
be Karen Fowler. Interment will be at the Lakota Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Jason Sorlien, O'Neal Johnson, Michael
Bosh, Chris Bosh, Mark Vanek, David Troen, and Gordy Jacobson.
Honorary casketbearers will be the morning coffee guys.
Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota
on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with
a Prayer Service at 7:15 p.m. Visitation will continue at
the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of
service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred
to the Latin American Lutheran Mission or a charity of the
donor's choice.
