Madelyn
M. Kleven, age 86, resident of Lakota, ND, passed
away in her home on Sunday, June 1, 2008.
Madelyn
Marie Peterson was born on December 6, 1921 at Michigan,
ND, the daughter of Bertina (Elvick) and Lawrence
Peterson. She attended school in Mapes, ND, was confirmed
in the Michigan Lutheran Church, and graduated from
Lakota High School in 1939. On October 1, 1939, she
married Elmer Kleven and resided in Lakota their entire
lives. She worked for many companies in Lakota, including
the Wheel Inn Caf é , the Johnson Store, Dairy
Queen, and the Fairway Foods Grocery Store as produce
manager until her retirement. Madelyn was an active
member of Lakota Lutheran Church. She loved her family
very much and was always glad to see her grandchildren.
She enjoyed shopping and going out to lunches with
her daughters and friends.
She
will be missed deeply by her daughters; Karen (Roger)
Sundeen, Peoria, AZ, Pat (Neil) Anderson, Lakota,
ND, Cheryl (Raymond) Miller, Lakota, ND, her daughter-in-law;
Shirley Kleven, Lakota, ND, 10 grandchildren, 15 great
grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, her brothers;
Lyle (Betty) Peterson, Hope, ND, Lowell (Mary) Peterson,
Valley City, ND, Roland (Mary-Ann) Peterson, Carrington,
ND, Wallace (Vivian) Peterson, Belfair, WA, her sister;
Irene Yoney, Lakota, ND.
Madelyn
was preceded in death by her parents, her husband
Elmer, her son Allen, her grandson Kim, and her brothers:
Orville, Manvel, Maynard "Pat", Roy, and her sister
Marie.
Madelyn
will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
Madelyn's Funeral Service will be
held at the Lakota Lutheran Church, Lakota, ND, on Thursday,
June 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend
Joel Westby. The organist will be Karen Fowler and the
soloist will be Sally Simonson. Interment will be in
the Lakota Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Madelyn's
grandsons; Terry Ellis, Scott Anderson, Kevin Anderson,
Cory Kleven, Ryan Kleven, and Paul Miller. Honorary
bearers will be all of her grandchildren and friends.
An Honor Guard will be provided by the Rundell-Holicky
American Legion Post #21 Ladies Auxiliary of Lakota.
Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of
Lakota on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 beginning at 3:00
p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will
continue at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m.
until the time of service.
