Lorraine
M. Westensee, age 83, resident of Lakota, ND, died Saturday,
December 11, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake,
ND.
Lorraine
Myrtle Brandvold was born April 22, 1927 at Moorhead,
MN, the daughter of Edwin and Irene (Stevens) Brandvold.
She was raised and attended school in Moorhead. Lorraine
married Preston Woodruff on December 31, 1946 at Fargo,
ND. After Preston died in 1974, Lorraine worked as a
cook at the Phi Delta Kappa sorority house at NDSU for
2 years. In 1976 she moved to Lakota where she worked
at the Budget Hotel and the Lakota Good Samaritan Center
. Lorraine married Warren Westensee on June 19, 1981
at Lakota. She was a member of the Lakota Lutheran Church
and the Ladies Aid, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary
of the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post #21 at Lakota.
She enjoyed working on puzzles and baking, especially
chocolate chip cookies.
Lorraine
is survived by her husband, Warren Westensee of Lakota;
4 daughters, Sandra (John) Hodny of Lakota, Cheryl (Harold)
Olson of Lankin, ND, Wendy Woodruff of Parker, CO, and
Cynthia (Mark) Christiansen of Charlevoix, MI; 2 step-children,
Elaine (Wes) Brooks of Lakota and Wayne Westensee of
Grand Forks, ND; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
3 sisters, Alvina Johnson of Apple Valley, MN, Carol
(Frank) Bernhardt of Fargo, ND, and Mary Hodny of Minneapolis,
MN; and 1 brother, John Brandvold of Bynum, MT.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Preston
Woodruff; a brother, Dick Brandvold; and a sister, Delores
Savageau.
Lorraine
's Funeral Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran
Church on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
Officiating will be the Reverend Reuben Schnaidt. The
organist will be Karen Fowler and the soloist will be
Jason Flom. An Honor Guard will be provided by the Ladies
Auxiliary of the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post
#21. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery . Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on
Wednesday, December 15, 2010 beginning at 5:00 p.m.
with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue
at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the
time of service
