L. L. “Lynn”
Schroeder, age 87, resident of Lakota, ND, passed away
Sunday, June 26, 2011 at his home in Lakota.
Lynn
was born February 14, 1924 in Lakota, ND, the son of
Lewis E. and Lottie (Beebee) Schroeder. He attended
8 years of school in Bartlett, ND, then 4 years in Lakota,
where he graduated in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S.
Army in October of 1943 and was discharged on May 6,
1946. Lynn married Mary Gordon on March 6, 1945 at the
Paine Army/Air Force Base in Everett, WA. They returned
to Lakota in June of 1946 where he began farming until
retiring in 1986. After retiring he continued to help
his son and grandsons farm, the family farmstead of
6 generations, through the fall of 2010. Mary died September
20, 1995. He was a member of the Congregational Church,
a 50 year member of the Euclid Masonic Lodge, 65 year
member of the American Legion, and the Devils Lake Elks
Lodge and Elks Band.
Lynn
was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary.
Surviving
are his loving companion, Audrey Swanke of Lakota; sons,
Jim (Bobbi) of Lakota and Gordy (Sherry) of Wichita,
KS; daughter, Jeanne (Jim) Aaker of Lakota; 5 grandsons,
Jason (Angie) of Fordville, ND, Eric (Tara), Joel (Kari),
and Kris of Lakota, Jon (Christina) of San Francisco,
CA; 1 granddaughter, Carlee (Randy) Thomson of Cando,
ND; 2 great-grandsons, Kaleb and Kole Thomson; and 2
great-granddaughters, Bailey and Peyton Schroeder.
Lynn's
Funeral Service will be held at the United Church of
Christ, Lakota, on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 10:30
a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Sue Mackey. The
organist will be Ellen Pederson. Interment will be in
the Lakota Cemetery. The casketbearers will be Jason
Schroeder, Eric Schroeder, Joel Schroeder, Kris Schroeder,
Jon Schroeder, and Randy Thomson. Military Honors will
be accorded by the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post
#21 of Lakota and the North Dakota Military Funeral
Honors Team. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral
Home of Lakota on Wednesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue
at the church on Thursday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until
the time of service.
