Lana L. Ward Becker, age 68, resident of Lakota, ND, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center.

Lana Lee Vasicek was born January 10, 1941 at Lakota, ND, the daughter of Eleanor (Kleven) and Theodore Vasicek. She attended the Sauter Township School and the Lakota School . Lana married Leroy Ward on November 15, 1958 at Lakota. The couple farmed near Lakota. Leroy passed away May 9, 1982 . Lana married Clifford M. Becker on September 30, 1984 at Lakota. Lana and Cliff made their home in Devils Lake . They moved to Lakota from Devils Lake in 2002. Cliff passed away March 9, 2003 . Lana was a member of “Brim of Hope” making hats for cancer patients, the Red Hats Society, the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary at Devils Lake , the Nelkota Homemakers, and was a volunteer gardener at Lake Region State College.

Lana will be deeply missed by her four sons, Randy (Paulette) Ward, Brian (Robyn) Ward, David Ward, and Gary Ward, all of Lakota; her mother, Eleanor Vasicek; her brothers, Alan (Janet) Vasicek and Mike Vasicek, all of Fargo; two step daughters, Elaine (William) Hastings and Julie Becker; three step sons, Dale, Jeff (Ellen), and Chad Becker; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; and her husbands, Leroy Ward and Cliff Becker.

Lana's Funeral Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Jamie Desai. The organist will be Karen Fowler and the soloist will be Bill Hodous. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery . The casketbearers will be Elroy Johnson, Glenn Fossen, Albert Johnson, Gary McLean, Bill Byram, and Kevin Becker. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Monday, June 1, 2009 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
