Klara G. Powers, age 93, resident of Lakota, ND, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center in Lakota, ND.

Klara G. Kozisek was born July 27, 1915 at Lawton, ND, the daughter of Frank and Bessie (Zelenka) Kozisek. She was raised in the area and graduated from Lawton High School in 1934. She then attended beauty school in Fargo. Klara married Lawrence J. Powers on June 6, 1940. She spent her life working with Lawrence on the farm, and a short time as the assistant postmaster in Lawton. They moved into Lakota in 1978. Lawrence died June 6, 2001. Klara continued living in the home until recently moving to the Good Samaritan Center.

Klara is survived by her son, Gary Powers of Lawton, ND; 2 grandchildren, Greg of Grand Forks, ND, and Lana of Phoenix, AZ; 1 great granddaughter, Stephanie; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; 4 brothers, Lud, Ted, Franklin, and Laddie Sr.; and 1 sister, Bessie Eaton.

The Funeral Mass for Klara will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church of Lakota, on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Celebrating the Mass will be Rev. Fr. John Aerts. Music will be provided by the St. Mary Church Choir, Barbara Johnson will be the organist. Interment will be in the spring at the Lakota Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, on Thursday, January 22, 2009, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Church on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
