Jeanette Ericksrud,
age 88, resident of Lakota, ND, died Tuesday, June 26,
2012 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND.
Jeanette
Johnson was born November 21, 1923 on the family farm
in Clara Township of Nelson County, ND, the daughter
of John and Karensa (Bjorndahlen) Johnson. She attended
the Cleveland School and Brocket High School, graduating
in 1941. She worked at various cafés in the area
and then the ASC office in Lakota. Jeanette married
Carl Ericksrud on September 7, 1945 at Lakota. Jeanette
was a farm wife. She worked hand in hand with Carl on
the farm. She loved to cook, bake, garden, and do needlework.
She was a member of Lakota Lutheran Church and WELCA,
the American Legion Auxiliary, the Cleveland Homemakers,
the Willing Workers, Lakota Senior Citizens, the quilting
group at church. Carl died May 12, 1991. Jeanette moved
to town that year and continued living in her own home
until moving to Prairie Rose, where she had many friends.
Jeanette
will be missed by her 3 daughters, Sharon (Stan) Orness
of Devils Lake, ND, Carol (Marty) Schmidt of Wahpeton,
ND, and Connie (Mark) Erickson of Center, ND; grandchildren,
DeAnn Schmidt, Dean (Stacy) Schmidt, Darin (Becki) Solberg,
Kristi Solberg, Jason (Amanda) Erickson, and Heather
(Chris) Kautz; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Derrick,
and Tarell Schmidt, Alex and Jaylin Solberg, Kendon
and Kylar Erickson, and Caden Kautz; and several nieces
and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; 2 grandsons,
Jay and Tim Schmidt; 3 brothers, Marvin, Lief, and Harold;
3 sisters, Evelyn Sandbakken, Mable Bakken, and Esther
Tufte; and a son-in-law, Robert Schmidt.
Jeanette's
Funeral Service will be held at Lakota Lutheran Church
on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating
will be Pastor Becky Horn. The organist will be Karen
Fowler. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery. The
casketbearers will be Stan Orness, Marty Schmidt, Mark
Erickson, Darin Solberg, Jason Erickson, and Chris Kautz.
An Honor Guard will be accorded by the Ladies Auxiliary
of the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post #21 of Lakota.
Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of
Lakota on Friday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Prayer
Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the
church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of
service.
