Isabelle M. Matson, age 80, resident of Aneta, ND, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta under the care of Altru Hospice from McVille, ND.

Isabelle Mildred Messner was born January 20, 1927 in Colvin Township of Eddy County, near Hamar, ND, the daughter of George and Idelia (Rude) Messner. She was baptized and confirmed at Sigdal Lutheran Church. Isabelle was raised and attended school in the Hamar area. She married Lawrence Frederick on December 5, 1944 in Devils Lake, ND. They raised 7 children and farmed near Wood Lake until they moved to Pekin, ND, in 1965. Lawrence passed away on March 4, 1974. Siabelle married Orvis Urvand on September 26, 1975 in Pekin, ND. Oris passed away December 6, 1978. She then married Carl Matson on November 1, 1980 at Pekin, ND. Isabelle was a very independent business woman. She owned and operated Frederick's Bar in Pekin until it burned in 1970. She then opened Frederick's Market in Pekin until she sold it in the late seventies. Isabelle was a member of Sundahl Lutheran Church of Aneta, and the Legion Auxiliary. Isabelle became a resident of the Aneta Parkview Health Center in March of 2003. Her favorite activities were gardening, playing cards, bowling, bingo, games, and dancing. Isabelle enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all and will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Matson of Aneta, ND; children, Dorene (David) Herrmann of Devils Lake, ND, Darlene (Art) Roberts of Las Vegas, NV, Robert (Evonne) Frederick of Lakota, ND, Lori (Mark) Johnson of Tolna, ND, Rodney (Christy) Frederick of Aneta, ND, Lisa (Brad) Hillebrand of Reynolds, ND, Vickie (Greg) Erickson of Pelican Rapids, MN, stepson, Les (Pam) Urvand of Crosby, ND; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Fugleberg of New Rockford, ND; 2 brothers, Allen (Ellen) Messner of Sheyenne, ND, and Harvey (Eleanor) Messner of Tolna, ND; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lyle Messner; brother-in-law, Vern Fugleberg; and by husbands Lawrence Frederick and Oris Urvand.

Isabelle's Memorial Service will be held at Sundahl Lutheran Church of Aneta, ND, on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Kenneth Iverson. The soloist will be Don Huso and the organist will be Joan Huso. Interment will be in the spring at Silent Hill Cemetery of Aneta. Honorary Bearers will be all of Isabelle's grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Saturday, December 22, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
