Harlan D.
Johnson, age 85, resident of Brocket, ND, died on Monday,
September 27, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Lakota,
ND, with his family present.
Harlan
was born June 28, 1925 at his grandmother's home in
rural Nelson County to Harry and Lilla (Rainsberry)
Johnson. He attended the Cleveland Consolidated School
and Brocket High School. He served in the military during
World War II and received a medical discharge due to
having polio as a child. He returned home to farm with
his father and eventually took over the family farm.
He served on the Clara Township Board, the Brocket Equity
Board, and the Brocket Co-op Board. He always attended
and enjoyed the Cleveland School reunions. His passion
was antique machinery and tractors, and was a proud
owner of both, especially his Altman Taylor tractor
and Model B Ford truck. He lived on the family farm
until he entered the Odd Fellows Home of Devils Lake
in 2006. He then moved to the Lakota Good Samaritan
Center in 2009.
Harlan
is survived by his brother, James Johnson & his
wife Marilyn of Crosby, ND; his sister, Della &
husband Lyle Sundeen of Brocket, ND; eleven nieces and
nephews, Kent, Randy, Barry, Michael, James, Denise,
Irene, Cindy, Jonell, Maureen, and Christopher; eighteen
great nieces and nephews, Brandon, Keri, Preston, Austin,
Ashley, Josh, Jake, Shantel, Jordan, Richard, Brett,
Kenny, Benett, Sara, Thomas, Randi, Clayton, and Rachel;
twelve great-great nieces and nephews, Devan, Grace,
Landon, Kelby, Conner, Jared, Andrea, Areil, Alano,
McKayla, Angelina, and Braydon, and all of their spouses
and families.
Harlan
was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Kenneth and Peter; one nephew, Keith Johnson; and one
niece, Leanne Sundeen.
The
Memorial Service for Harlan will be held at the Aaker
Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday, October 1, 2010 at
10:30 a.m. Reverend Sue Mackey will officiate. Interment
will be in the Hoff Cemetery, rural Brocket, following
the service.
