Grace
Kreis, age 93, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Langdon,
ND, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Lakota Good Samaritan
Center in Lakota.
Viola
Grace Arndt was born November 7, 1913 in Arcadia, Nebraska,
the third of six children born to John and Bertha Arndt.
At an early age, she moved to the Langdon area, where she
lived with her grandparents Charles and Alice Arndt, and
also was raised by Jack and Birdie Zarn. From 1928 until
her marriage, she cooked and was housekeeper for grandpa
Arndt and uncle George. Grace married John S. Kreis on June
10, 1941 at Langdon. They farmed in Manilla Township of
Cavalier County until John's death on September 20, 1978.
She then moved into Langdon. Grace moved to Lakota in 1990.
Her hobbies included doing craftwork and gardening. She
became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in December
of 2004.
Grace
is survived by many extended family members and friends
in the Lakota and Langdon area.
She
was preceded in death by her husband; 2 sons, Ronald in
1944 at 8 months, and Donald in 1955 at 10 years.
Grace's Funeral Mass will be held at St.
Mary Catholic Church of Lakota on Monday, October 15, 2007
at 2:00 p.m. Celebrating the Mass will be Fr. Dale Kinzler.
Music will be provided by the St. Mary Church Choir. Interment
will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Langdon. Casketbearers
will be William Hooey, Austin Hooey, Cole Hooey, Joe Rhode,
Terry Jordan, and Les Welsh.
