Gemia L. Monge, age 69, resident
of Lakota, ND, died Friday, October 31, 2008 at the
Nelson County Health System Hospital in McVille, ND.
Gemia
Louise Sundeen was born February 16, 1939 near Brocket,
ND, the daughter of James and Mary (Cole) Sundeen.
She was raised on her parents farm and graduated from
Brocket High School in 1957. She then attended Valley
City State College. Gemia taught at Southam and Hannaford,
ND for a short time. She then became a Nurse's Aide,
working in Valley City and McVille. Gemia also worked
as a bartender and café manager at the Legion
Café in McVille. She moved to Shakopee, MN,
where she worked at a motel. She returned to Lakota
in February 2004 to be near family and friends.
Gemia
will be greatly missed by her 2 sons, James (Vicky)
Overby of Arvada, CO, and Bradley (Vicki) Overby of
Prior Lake, MN; 6 grandchildren, Toby Overby, Nicole
Overby, Bradley Overby, Darcy Overby, Roth Knight,
and Cody Knight; her mother, Mary Sundeen of Lakota,
ND; 3 brothers, Norris (Sharyn) Sundeen of St. Helens,
OR, Terry (Emma) Sundeen of Green River, WY, and Dennis
(Bonnie) Sundeen of Grand Forks, ND; 1 sister, Marlys
Langton of Cross Timber, MO; her sister-in-law, Jan
Sundeen of Lakota, ND; her special friends, Rena and
Danny Johnson of Minnetonka, MN; and several nieces,
nephews & cousins.
She
was preceded in death by her father, James Sundeen;
step-father, Nils Sundeen; brother, Darell Sundeen;
and daughter, Shelly Hackert.
The Memorial Service for Gemia will
be held at the United Lutheran Church of Brocket, ND,
on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating
will be Reverend Joel Westby. The organist will be Diane
Beirwagen and the soloist will be Sharon Olson. An Honor
Guard will be provided by the Ole Semling American Legion
Unit #135 Ladies Auxiliary. Interment will be private
at the Hoff Cemetery near Brocket.
