Gary
W. Anderson, our very special brother, died Tuesday,
March 18, 2008 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center
in Lakota, ND, at the age of 61.
Gary
Wayne Anderson was born December 17, 1946 at Hallock,
MN, the son of Harry W. and Clara (Roppel) Anderson.
He moved with his family in the spring of 1948 to
Edmore, ND. Gary was a baptized member of Derrick
Lutheran Church, Derrick, ND. He lived with his parents
on their farm near Edmore until they moved to Lakota
in 1980. He then joined the United Church of Christ
in Lakota. Gary's father died in 1987 and he continued
to live with his mother until 1992. Gary lived with
his brother, Virgil, until March of 1993. At this
time Gary moved to Devils Lake. He was affiliated
with the REM Corporation and worked various jobs in
the lake region. Gary's mother died in 1997. He became
a resident of the Lakota Good Samaritan Center in
November of 2006. Gary enjoyed traveling in the south
with his parents during the winter months. He enjoyed
fishing and camping with family, golfing, bowling,swimming,
and spending holidays and weekends with his family
in Lakota. He also enjoyed riding his three wheel
bike and attending Bible Camp at Red Willow.
Gary
will be greatly missed by his sister, Esther (Darrel)
Leith of Lakota; 4 brothers, Rodger (Luanne) Anderson
of Lakota, Ronald (Mary) Anderson of Dickinson, ND,
Virgil Anderson of Lakota, and LaMar Anderson of Edmore,
ND; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend,
David Overbo of Devils Lake, ND.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, Harry W. and
Clara Anderson.
Gary's Funeral Service will be held
at the United Church of Christ, Lakota, ND, on Saturday,
March 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be the
Reverend Sue Mackey. The organist will be Ellen Pederson
and the soloist will be Jason Flom. Interment will be
in the Lakota Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Kent Leith,
Kurt Leith, Todd Anderson, Steven Anderson, Joel Anderson,
Rick Anderson, Troy Anderson, Rodney Anderson, Lonnie
Anderson, Jamie Anderson, and Kade Anderson. Honorary
Bearers will be all of Gary's nieces. Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, on
Friday, March 21, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
with a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue
at the church on Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. until the
time of service.
