Gary L. Powers, age 68, of Lawton, ND, died Monday, September 14, 2009 at his daughter's home in Phoenix, AZ.

Gary L. Powers was born October 29 , 1940 in Ramsey County, ND, the son of Clara and Lawrence Powers. He was raised in Lawton, ND and graduated from Lawton High School in 1958. He then attended Wahpeton State School of Science and took two years of Diesel Mechanics. Gary married Linda Myhre in 1960 and spent the biggest part of his life working in road construction. Gary worked with Ramsey County Road Construction, as well as the missile site in Nekoma, and the Gasification Plant in Beulah, ND. After approximately 20 years of construction, Gary farmed his parent's land in Lawton, ND.

Gary is survived by his son, Greg Powers of Grand Forks, ND; his daughter, Lana Powers of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter Stephanie Powers of Grand Forks, ND; his first wife, Linda Powers of Mesa, AZ; his step children Danyel Johnson and her two beautiful sons, Conner and Tate; Deb Oster and her children, Paul, Nic and Collin; Brent Oster and his children, Jaydyn, Brayden and Addison; and his second wife, Irene Powers.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara, and his father, Lawrence Powers.

Gary's loving daughter, Lana, wishes to give a special thanks to all who loved and cared for her father during his illness; Lois Rainwater, John Nash, Kelly Smith, Linda Powers, Dian Steckel, Janelle King, Nancy Rishavy, Faye Severinson, Danyel Johnson, Michelle Thomas, and Jacque Polomsky. Papa loved and cherished everyone so very much. Lana also wanted to give a special thanks to Harris Hegg and Connie Anderson for being so much help to her and her family.

A Prayer Service will be held at Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 7:00 PM.
