Evelyn E. Fisk, age 79, resident
of Lakota, ND, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Altru Hospital
in Grand Forks, ND.
Evelyn Elaine
Knutson was born January 20, 1931 at Estevan, Saskatchewan,
Canada, the daughter of Theodore and Marion (Haukeness)
Knutson. She moved with her family to Petersburg, ND
in 1937. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Whitman,
ND, where Evelyn attended school. She was confirmed
at Sarnia Lutheran Church at Whitman in May of 1946.
She was a 1949 graduate of Michigan High School . Evelyn
married Willard Fisk on April 16, 1952 at Michigan .
They farmed the Fisk family farmstead north of Mapes,
ND until moving to Grand Forks in 1957. They moved to
Lakota in 1961. Evelyn raised her children and then
worked part time at the Johnson Store in Lakota. She
was a member of the Homemakers Club and was an active
member of Lakota Lutheran Church, where she was involved
with ladies aid, circle group, and bible study groups.
She loved to Crochet and made many quilts for her family.
Willard died January 27, 1994. Evelyn continued living
in Lakota until last autumn when she moved to Maple
View in Grand Forks.
Evelyn will be
deeply missed by her 6 children, Deborah (Bruce) Ellertson
of Michigan, ND, Richard (Mary) Fisk of Bismarck, ND,
Steven (Cheri) Fisk of Oberon, ND, Paulette (Randy)
Ward of Lakota, ND, Kevin (Carol) Fisk of Bagley, MN,
and Craig (Denise) Fisk of Lakota, ND; 8 grandchildren,
Jamie (Ryan) Shirek, Nicole (Mitchell) Kannel, Ryan
(Cierra) Fisk, Melissa (Robert) Behm, Justin (Jamie)
Ward, Shane Fisk, Kyle Fisk, and Jessica Fisk; 8 great
grandchildren; her sister, Esther Estvold of Lakota,
ND; her brother-in-law, Leonard (Carol) Fisk of Lakota;
2 sisters-in-law, Colleen (Allen) Belyea of Larimore,
ND, and Elaine Fisk of Lakota; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded
in death by her parents; her husband, Willard; an infant
sister, Doris; a sister, Bertha O'Hara; and 2 brothers,
Lester and Maynard Knutson.
Evelyn's Funeral
Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran Church on
Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will
be the Reverend Reuben Schnaidt. The organist will be
Karen Fowler and the soloist will be Sally Simonson.
Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery. Serving as
casketbearers will be Ryan Fisk, Justin Ward, Kyle Fisk,
Ryan Shirek, Mitchell Kannel, and Robert Behm. Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on
Friday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service
at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church
on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
